Kylee Makes It launched on October 5, 2020, with the goal of creating meaningful content for kids and their grown-ups. We want to encourage creativity, curiosity, and emotional health in families while learning, making, and having fun! Kylee Makes It is produced by a family team, Kylee and Phil Larson, and often there are guest appearances from the real stars, our son Dax and our family dog, Hashbrown.
Kylee has been a pastor, mental health direct-care worker, and art teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Child Psychology and a Master of Theology degree. She has always loved art. When she's not making kid's crafts these days, she's been learning how to throw pottery on the pottery wheel. Currently, she works on Kylee Makes It part-time and gets to be home with Dax for his last summer before Kindergarten!
Phil is a music producer, composer, and podcaster. He has been composing music since 1999, podcasting since 2015, and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Business. After Kylee creates and edits each video, she sends them off to Phil and he creates a custom score for each one! Kylee and Phil met when they were both counselors at a summer camp in 2004 and have been married for 16 years. They have always envisioned using their shared love of the arts to create safe spaces for people to express themselves and grow. Kylee Makes It is the latest iteration in that dream! They work together from home most days in Phil's studio, which is now known as "The Maker Box."
Dax was only 2 years old when we started making videos! He is now 5 years old and is getting ready to start Kindergarten in the fall. He loves space, marbles, Legos, creating epic trick shots, and drawing.
